Minecraft Embraces Pop Culture Brands With Creative Downloadable Content
Multiple branded experiences are currently available on the sandbox platform.
The video game industry has a long history with branded experiences. From E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on the Atari 2600 to the slew of licensed experiences on Roblox, gamers have had plenty of opportunities to celebrate their love of pop culture franchises through the world of gaming.
Minecraft also has its fair share of branded experiences.
As reported by Moonrock property Restart, some of the latest branded downloadable content (DLC) packs for the block-based sandbox game include offerings inspired by Transformers, Tetris, and SpongeBob SquarePants.
The Transformers DLC turns Minecraft players into the Autobots and challenges them to save Earth by defeating the Decepticons.
The Tetris DLC, meanwhile, challenges players to navigate ever-changing dungeons on their quest to defeat the Tetrimonster. The DLC even allows gamers to play the classic game of Tetris when they want to take a break from the dungeon-based experience.
Finally, the SpongeBob SquarePants add-on allows players to complete quests for SpongeBob and his friends, as well as experiment with blocks and furniture items inspired by the animated series.
These branded experiences show off the variety of content available to Minecraft players, and what’s possible when creative developers are allowed to experiment with a game’s existing tools to create something new.
