Walmart Discovered on Roblox Now Allows Users to Purchase Real-World Products
When a real-world item is purchased, the buyer will also receive its digital twin.
Beginning April 29, 2024, the Walmart Discovered Roblox experience will allow visitors 13+ in the U.S. to purchase a selection of real-world items from Walmart from within the Roblox platform.
Walmart Discovered users could already purchase a variety of virtual items throughout the experience, but this launch will mark the first time people can purchase real-world items within Walmart’s Roblox environment.
As reported by Digiday, Walmart Discovered users can purchase three real-world items through the Roblox experience: a No Boundaries bag, a TAL tumbler, and Onn headphones. When a Roblox user purchases one of these items through the Walmart Discovered experience, they’ll receive the item’s “virtual twin” for their Roblox avatar. These virtual twin items were designed by creators Sarabxlla, Junozy, and MD17_RBLX.
As reported by Digiday, this launch is part of a pilot test that will run until the end of May 2024.
